Beets with Garlic and Butter

Ingredients

  • Beets desired amount
  • 1-2 cloves garlic approximately
  • Butter to coat
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel beets and chop them into cubic pieces about the size of a dice. I put these in the steamer basket and steam until they are tender crisp.

  2. While the beets are cooking, mince some garlic. I would recommend 1-2 cloves depending on how many beets you are doing and how much you like garlic!

  3. It takes about 10 minutes to cook the beets. I check them by piercing them with a fork. When they are ready, transfer them over to a serving dish and toss them with the prepared garlic, 1-2 tablespoons of butter and salt and pepper.

Recipe Notes

Of course, another to prepare beets is to boil them whole and peel and chop them afterwards. However, boiling whole beets takes up to 45 minutes depending on their size. That second way would also work here (you could them saute them with the garlic and butter for a couple of minutes at the end). Doing it the first way, the beets cook faster and are ready to serve right way. I usually find that method works best with my work flow for meal preparation.
